Multiple Class Action Suits Over WD’s SMR Hard Drives Filed in US and Canada

WD has apologized to its customers and struck a conciliatory tone while listing all of its drives that used SMR technology without disclosure, and Toshiba and Seagate have also provided detailed lists of impacted drives.

Worth checking as WD is reportedly offering some people replacement drives.

I bought four WD Red 4TB drives for my NAS 2 years ago, but I checked and they are the better CMR models.

Yeah, I was concerned because I bought 5 new drives but fortunately mine are the 10TB version which are supposed to be CMR.
That's just wrong on their part. How'd they believe they'd get away with nobody eventually testing them?
