Utimate Cable Tester?

I never new something like this existed. Seems like it does quite a bit for less than $70.

You and me both.

That thing looks like it has more than 70 bucks worth of connectors on it. I remember how much them Neutrik connector used to be.

I wound up making one for 3 and 4 pin XLR (microphone and intercom) back in the 80s when I worked as a stage hand. Nothing more frustrating than trying to figure out which 50ft cable in a 500 foot run has an intermittent connection.

Only thing I really use nowadays is a network cable tester that's invaluable for diagnosing network issues, I can't tell you how often I've discovered a network problem was a badly wired cable, usually installed by an amateur who had no idea what he's doing. Noting like finding a 300 foot main trunk line between two switches that was wired with incorrect pairing and is barely carrying 1 Mbit.

Client: 'My son ran those. Saved us a lot of money."

Me: "Wait until you see my bill."
