His mother wants to get him a gaming PC. She is looking to spend around $1k. Will go up to $1500 but is obviously trying to get the most for her money.
What would you all recommend since I know some of you are always looking at the deals out there and I might miss something that one of you spots.
He'll use it for school but wants to game on it as well.

Thanks in advance!

Gamers Nexus had good things to say about the Newegg in house prebuilt ABS Challenger PCs. Except, that tech support was the suck. That said, they were impressed with the build quality, and quality of components, and bang for the buck. It'll all be standard ATX components so everything is easily upgradeable, and there's a 30 day return policy.

Here's one for $1200: https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali573/p/N82 ... -_-Product

Here's Steve's review of one, not the same model: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2vrvQydVIw

He's been doing reviews of pre-builts the last two months, and been dismally disappointed except for this one.

Video card is decent for 1080p gaming.

Hope this helps.

Isn't that GPU worse than a 1080Ti ? That 1660 seems to have a much lower score in PassMark.

Just behind a stock GTX 1080.

I just did a bit of research and ABS has four categories: Challenger, Master, Gladiator and Legend.
https://www.abs.com/

Master gets you a RTX 3060 or 6600XT, and there's several on Newegg: https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=abs+master
There's some pretty good prices in there at a glance, starting at $1200.
