Looking to replace my 17 inch monitor with another the same size and wanted your recommendations for that size. I routinely run 1024x768 @ 85hz. I have and had Dell (Trinitron), Princeton, and Sony in the present and past. Thanks,
Bill

you can go ahead and buy my 17" Flat panel TFT samsung SyncMaster 770

it would fit your bill. Otherwise I would go with a trinitron tube or a Hitachi display. thats me though.

I have a ViewSonic A75s and am very impressed with it. It is a great 17" monitor and I just can't rave enough about it. It is 16" viewable, which is excellent. It supports every resolution that my Voodoo 3 3000 card can produce and looks great, too. You should check it out, ViewSonic is the best! If you like them, that is ;-) Anyways, get what you like, not just what others tell ya. That is what I did. I like the Sony Trinitron, but they are just too darn expensive for me.

I've had god luck with CTX and Princeton 17inchers. A few problems with KDs ones.

I agree with smb my 19" just died (get new one Thursday) and I am using a 17" now and not liking it too much. Save your money and get a 19"

The reason I wanted to stay with 17 inch is that I use the anti-static/anti-glare screens on both my monitors and @ $70 apiece, I don't want to move up and trash what I have. I also have a fish/ski boat and have suffered through the "two-foot-itis(eye-tis)" disease that comes with any boat. In other words, if my boat was just two feet longer, I could...
I would probably like the 19 inch, but then there is the 21 inch and ...
Thanks for all the tips so far

Yeah....go with Flat Display. It's really easy on the eyes. KDS actually makes a good FD monitor.

Well folks, ordered the Samsung 700EF from Buy.com. It is flat with the resolution I like. Had a $10 coupon and a 2% ebate to help out a little. Too bad we don't see much free shipping now. Did not want to wait for Xmas for that to show up again.
BTW, had a problem with a Princeton once so I chose to avoid them. I have had fairly good luck with Sony(3) but felt I could get one as good or better for less. I had a Dell monitor(probably a Sony)crash recently, it was almost four months out of warranty.
