i've been running my 1st built system for close to a month now. no problems so far but i'm not sure whether i shld be alarmed at my temps. to sum things up this is what i got: abit kt7a, t-bird 1.1(not overclocked..yet), stock hsf with cheapo thermal grease and enlight 7237 with fan in back and front.

if my computers sitting idle it's usually at 80-82F(cpu temp) and 70-71 (case temp) i'm monitoring using the viatech hm cd that came with the board. even while rebooting and checking the bios the temps are consistent. thing is after playing games or under lotsa load and immediately checking the temps my cpu temps reach 112-118F while my case temp never goes over 77F. good things is temps go down after a couple of minutes of sitting idle, maybe it's cuz i use rain?

so... is it normal to have such a huge jump in temps in regards to the cpu temp while the case temp doesn't really change?

No need to be concerned. Those are pretty impressive temps for a stock cooler!?!?! I get around those same temps with my Fop heatsink and a 41cfm 80mm fan on top it :)

Agreed......It is kinda bad to have jumps that big, but I think unless you are going to keep your CPU for more that 2 years.....it's not going to hurt it much.

Yeah, more than likely you'll be replacing that processor before those temps ever kill it.
