ive always had problems reaching all the way to the back or to the side of my case just to get at my USB hub, and ive read elsewhere about front USB ports. Ive always thought it would be nice to have the hub permanent on the case, and just recently this idea came to me. Well, its really tough to stay away from a dremel and a small idea, coupled with the effect of a couple of bottles of beer...

You could always try either adding some sort of trim material (maybe?) or something like silicone sealant to smooth the edges. I like the idea though as I too always find it a pain whenever I need to plug/unplug USB devices such as Camera related stuff if I'm moving it from one PC to another.
