just learn by my mistake guys !

i bought a new Black Ice Mid-Tower ATX Case

and
decided to add a Clear Blue Four LED Fan 80x25mm, 3pin, 32CFM w/Fan Guard

in top cover were there was a place for a fan !
i also decide to cut the factory vents out and drilled a 3 in hole in there place !
all went as planned up to this point !
i installed my new Powmax 500W Aluminum Power Supply and found that with it installed there was not enough clearance for the 80 mm case top fan !
the power supply was to long and also to high .all i have is room for like a 80x10 case fan
so now I'm having go out and buy a plastic or aluminum 80 mm fan filter unit and a Mod Fan Covers as seen here http://www.crazypc.com/products/casemods/fanguards.htm

so my advice to all of you is before you mod a case check and recheck !
also may be a good idea to install the hardware or temp it in place before you go cutting a case up !

i also just order a mirrored dragon 80 mm fan cover
don't know if my case neon that is blue will show but i kinda hope so !

bellringer - hey, we have all made modding mistakes. My favorite is cutting the side panel, mounting the custom laser-etched window, and then putting the side back on the case only to find out that the window is hitting the crossbar in the case! Not to be stopped, I took my heavy-duty metal shears and cut a big section out of that crossbar, so that it provided clearance to the window. If you can't work around the problem, then order a part that will fit, and save the one that doesn't fit this mod, and use it on the next mod. Sometimes it's difficult to test-fit your parts, but if you can do it, that is the smart way to go.

Or you could do what my next mod is and actually install the fan on the outside of the case. I won two new 92mm case fans and a lan, but have no room for them INSIDE my case. So I'm going to add them on the top, but have them mounted on the top so that they don't get blocked off by my PSU. I don't know if this would work for you, but it would look kinda cool...

I did win them at kill. They're installed on the top of my case right now. Along w/a new adjustable fan speed controller (nexus) and the thermalright slk-800. Those two came in the mail today.

Cool. I hope to make it to one of their lans someday in the near future.
