Circulation problem

Post by Gloom »

Ok so when i leave the case open my cpu runs at about 45 C on load, but when it is shut it hits 60 :( I have two case fans; one in the front and one in the back. The one in the front sucks air in, and the one in the back blows air out. They are both 80 mm and run at about 1500 - 2000 RPMs each. I dont have any more spots for fans and am running out of ideas. The one thing I notice is that in the back I have room and proper screw alignment for a larger fan (larger than 80mm). Would a larger fan in the back help? Is there some other kind of fan i could put in besides a case fan? Any help is appreciated. :)

THanks

(my overall goal is to be able to shut the case and have it run at 45 even on load :D )

First, are these fans restricted? like do they have major grills over where they are pushing air? grills often restrict LTOS of air. I dont have the time to look for any pics. Also, how is your wire layout in there? stuff all over the place or is it neet?

Yes, a Larger fan will help, a 92mm or 120mm.

You can also cut a hole in your side panel and have a fan placed there blowing over the videocard, north bridge, and cpu. that helps quite a bit.

One of the best things you can do for keeping system temps down is to add a side cover fan, blowing over the graphics card/cpu area. Have seen temps lowered a LOT, the bigger, the better. Just use a thin, foam filter to keep out the dirt and crap. I dropped internal temps a full 10C by adding a low speed 120mm fan. That also dropped the cpu temp considerably.
