Paint type?

Post by 123cool »

hi all, i am now interesed in painting my case black and hopefully creating a mirror effect, i found a good tutorial for this. i was wondering what kind of paint should be used on the plastic at the front of my case as i am aware that spraypaint will actually melt the plastic. any ideas?

heh.. Don't know about that.. ;) I painted one of mine black w/Krylon and no problems.. It's a paint I would recommend. Krylon aslo makes a paint that is "just for" plastic.. GL eGo

If paint melted plastic, there would be a LOT of motorscooters that would have melted down long ago :)

I used and recommend an epoxy paint. Used it on both the metal and plastic parts of the case. I did it over 3 yrs ago and it has held up great. It has not faded nor are they any scratches or chipping. The epoxy paint cost a little more but in my eyes has been well worth it.

Krylon thats the Sh!T!!!

I use it on my dirtbike... after 5 coats w/clear finish(Krylon aswell) it holds damn well..rocks hit it @ like 60mph... and theres maybe 2 chips !!
I also used black, and red paint too...

the paint is premixed for plastic :D

Krylon is the good way too go!
also if ya wanna paint the metal bring it to a body shop!! electro-static works very nice :) it'll also be a specality for the shop... they'll prolly do it for ya :)

Hit the automotive stores for "vinyl dye". Use it on the plastic parts. ;)

*Edit*
Krylon Fusion is made for metals and plastics.

Duplicolor is great for case painting as well- maybe they have that over on that side of the pond?
