Looking forward to the review!

Except for the window, looks exactly like mine on my desk, and the one in the box next to me I haven't used yet :)

Guess I need to update this sig, alittle out of date :)

Front USB Sucks

Post by Natronz »

This case is very large and impressive but save yourself some time and aggravation by shopping around for better quality. The front usb card on my case keeps popping back into the case everytime i use it forcing me to have to disassemble the case to get in behind the front without breaking any of the mounting tabs. That is rediculous for a $100 case!!!!! The usb ports are extremely tight causing you to have to use excessive for force to insert and peripherals into them. My last case was an Evercase screwless tower for which i paid $22 without the ps. It was far superior in quality to this Antec and it's cheap components, even though it did not have all the "options". In my opinion there are just as many cases now with the side windows available without having to subject yourself to being a mechanic everytime you want to use the features you paid for. If i got paid by the hour i might consider keeping this peice of chit. Shop around first! :grr

its just like all of antecs cases, except this one has a air filter in the front, windowed side and the 2 usb and one firewire port

other than that.....its the exact same case as my antec 1035 soho server case. About the same price i paid for mine origionally too.

As far as quality.....antecs are supurb imho.

As far as your comments Natronz.....was it really necessary to post your reply here, and then post a NEW topic that was just copied and pasted? You sure the usb ports arent tight because you are trying to hook the cables upside down? It doesnt seem like an antec case would have that kind of flaw.

Blade, did you notice anything about the usb ports being tight in the front on your case?

The front ports on mine seem ok, maybe a little tight. But I can plug and un-plug and the ports stay where they are. Perhaps yours is defective Natronz. Email Antec and ask them to relace the front bezel, after explaining the problem to them.

Been sitting on my case for a few months...

Post by Bigal »

I bought this case from CompUSA for about $70 or $80 a few months ago, with the intention of making it my summer project. It's a beautiful case for the money, and I think the quality is top notch. My other cases are CoolerMaster ATC-710's and a few generics that we won't talk about. My current plan is to mount a small laser-etched window in the front door, and another laser-etched window on the motherboard panel. I have tried the window on the motherboard panel with an ATC-710, and the space available for lighting is very tight, especially for cold cathodes. I used a combination of two cold cathodes and a few LEDs from http://www.Xport1.com for the ATC-710, and I'll probably use just the LEDs for this Antec PlusView1000 case.

The best feature of this case has to be the excellent air flow. With Athlon XP machines, I've found that you want dual fans pulling air into the case from the front, and dual fans extracting air from the rear. A nice and clear path for that air is possible with this case (as it is with the ATC-710). The side fan is an extra that's nice to have too, although I usually don't overclock the videocard. :d

Thank you Bigal. :)

I love it and it's my main setup. Just wish it were blue. :D

I use an angel mod cathode on the side fan on mine. It lights it all up brighter than 2 of those long cathodes did.

I like those fan cold cathodes too....

Post by Bigal »

Yes, SVC has a good deal on those cold cathode fan grills. I installed one so far, and I have too more sitting in my "parts bin" awaiting an application. They are very bright, and easily worth the $10 price.

Your case looks cool. Maybe I'll try one of the Anglemod fan grills in my Antec case. Now that I'm back from a short vacation (got to go up the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington), it's time to get moving on the case. For a power supply, I have a Thermaltake Silent Purepower 480W (W0011), which has that PFC (Power Fan Control?). That should be enough power.....I hope! :D

Got any pics from the Space Needle? :)

That Tt 480W psu should be more than enough. I believe that also comes with control for the fans too. Looks like a very nice psu.

Yeah, but....

Post by Bigal »

I don't have anywhere to post the pictures right now. It would be nice if we could upload small pictures to the forums....

Regarding the power supply, I did read some reviews before ordering it. I actually ordered the black one, and then sent me the silver one. No big deal I guess. Usually, SVC does a good job packaging the order and getting it right. Newegg has never messed up my orders. :D

Cool Case

Post by dg180 »

This case is awesome, it manages to keep everything cool, looks great with LED fans and it's even got a door to hide those ugly beige drives. And I'm not sure about a lot of other people, but my front USB/firewire ports are solid.

BUT, I do have one nag

The plastic holding the door to the case is incredibly flimsy, and as you can probably guess, mine broke off, what do you expect, the things like 2mm thick, had to use incredibly strong glue to get it back in place, but now it's fine.

Conclusion...

EXCELLENT CASE!!

Still waiting on parts....

Post by Bigal »

My project is still on hold, as I'm waiting on the two windows I ordered a while ago. Two nights ago I had to use the fan bus I was going to put in this case, so now I need to get one of those too. Maybe it's time to try the smaller 3.5 inch fan bus units. I guess this is turning into a Fall-Winter project, which makes it tougher to paint (it gets cold in Virginia).

I'm aware of the door design, and I will be careful with it. You might be able to replace the plastic pins with metal ones, like CoolerMaster uses on their ATC-710 case (I have two of those).
