I picked up a slightly older Raspberry Pi (3 model b v1.2) and loaded up Raspian via the NOOBS installer. Then I installed Pi-Hole on it to be the network-wide adblocker.

It's working really well so far and does speed up browsing (YMMV based on where you browse, of course). I have always used Firefox + Ublock Origin or similar, but this will do all devices on the network, as well as speed up your VPN a bit if you're away from home and connecting back. Check it out if you haven't...cool stuff.

If you run pfSense you can do similar blocking using pfblockerNG (in case someone didn't know)
