I've been noticing that my ping is quadruple everyone elses. I don't game online a ton, but I suspect that is why I'm haveing so much trouble on BF2142. Is there anything I can do about it, or do I have to contact the cable company (and for that matter, can they do anything about it)?

do a few tracert tests to various sites and see if there is a common bottleneck for you. if it's within your ISP's network, then they might be able to help...if it's outside of their domain...they won't care. also, if you're using wireless, plug in and retest.

a nice program for graphing ping data is pingplotter as well...check it out.

Thanks for the info. I tried a few different speedtest locations & the best I managed was 146ms. I then tried the pingplotter & it appeard that 68 is the average. I also tried DSL Reports & they give me a 85ms average & tell me that my upload is probably compressed. Maybe it's just speedtest.net not liking me.

hope u have better luck w/your isp than i did w/mine,, i had screenshots of tracert tests to their own home site which showed time-outs @ their CORERTR, and got zero assist.

$29/mo ... cheaper than comcast anyway

Wish they would fix the latency though, it has been getting bad lately.
