sorry billygoat, your only half right I made sure that the XP firewalls and the router firewall was disabled, but while looking for something else in the services list for XP, i noticed a started service for PC Cillin Firewall. The software program for the PC Cillin firewall wasnt installed, there was no list of it in Task Info, but for some reason, it was running in the background somewhere where i couldnt see it... thanks for the help thou !!!
