New network problem....

New network problem....

OK.. I am connected to my GF's computer for the internet, I want to hook up to a hub so that me her and a friend can play dungeon seige

her comp and my buds comp can find each other on the hub... where as my comp doesn't even light up the hub light...
but I CAN connect to them indivualy... I played UT 2k3 with him about 20 min ago and now I am using the connection between me and the GF to use the net...

Sooooooooo what the hell is going on?
why can't I find them but they can find each other so easily???


please help!

If I am understanding you correctly, sounds to me like you are trying to use a crossover cable. Normally you are connecting to your GF's PC NIC to NIC? No HUB or switch, right? If so, then yes you are using a crossover cable.

no no I have 3 seperate straight thru cat5's, seperate from the cross over cat5 I use for surfing the net

LOL I wasn't assuming you were dumb, but I know alot of people that have have made that same mistake. :D

What kind of NIC do you have? Have you tried updated drivers?

I have an Nforce2 MCP nic

and I found out why my DSL was so slow and I couldn't access google...

had a webpage hitchhiker!! b@astard..
so that's fixed
