When all else fails, replace the user.

Re: Better Speed Test from DSLReports.com
I'm at my parents house 1.5 miles from my house (Dad's in hospital a few days and baby sitting Mom), and they get twice the bandwidth I'm getting. I need to call Comcast and and find out why. I have an approved DOCSIS 3.0 modem. Maybe the one here is DOCSIS 3.1? I own my own modem, this one here is the Comcast rental. Only other possibility is that they are within the town limits here near the main highway. I'm outside the town in unincorporated Lake County. Could be they have a faster switch here on a fatter pipe.
They're getting 69Mb/s down and 12Mb/s up. I only noticed because I was downloading a Steam game on my laptop here and it was coming in at 7MB/s. Best I can get on a Steam download at my place is 3.5MB/s.

Now granted my computer is wired to a WRT54gl that is acting as a bridge to the actual modem because I haven't run wires in the house yet.
Also I am letting the cable modem be the gateway/router as I don't have a new one yet and so I am not running QOS of any kind.

Not much has changed here:

Mine is screaming fast today. Didn't even work at all for most of last night.

wvjohn: The new BBS doesn't allow HTML code for security reasons. You have to copy the image location and use the [img] tag. I fixed it for ya.

Genom. I'm going to park my RV next door to you and mooch your network.

Screw that! I just ran it on Drexel's server. I'm gonna move to freakin' Canada (especially after these elections). He's got a SOLID Internet at home. Buffer bloat didn't even move. Crazy!!

Anytime Bob
At least since Google fiber is slowly moving into the Atl area, Comcast has gotten their shit more or less together.

I have a direct fiber connection to our new house, but I'm using AT&T which is crap.
