The neighbors and I( have been going around the mulberry tree with comcast for years. Too far - we lose money - you pay us big bucks if you want!
The neighbors were putting up a cattle fence last weekend I went by to supervise and noticed that Comcast had snuck a line up from the opposite direction and hooked up my neighbor who is about 200 yds from me.

I chatted with various people in India, bottom line they wrote a request for new service. To get to me they have to run about 2-300 yds across an open field. Most of the power lines around me were likely run under the rural electrification deal in the 30s - they go from house to house, rather than up the road.

I cam hoping to soon have internet that doesn't flake out when it rains or gets windy!

Good luck.

Worst case, you can ask your nearest neighbor with cable to allow you to pay for a second service at his house, and use a couple of those Ubiquiti Nano Beams that I'm using to mooch Internet from my old house. You just need line of sight.

My situation was a little ridiculous but I can understand it because of the distances due to the size of my property. I have a pole with cable (but not hard line) in my backyard but it's 500+ feet from my new house. Comcast doesn't like to run regular coax more than 200 feet from the pole because of the signal loss. So they had to run a dedicated hard line from the main street (a total of 1100 feet away), to my house.

Bottom line is the whole thing cost $3800. Comcast's rule (at least here in Florida) is they pickup the first $2000 and the rest is on you.

Still worth it for me. Comcast service here is awesome (bandwidth-wise). I'm getting 120 mbit/s on their Blast tier. CenturyLink fiber is nowhere near those speeds, and satellite is a joke. While I could have continued mooching Internet from the old house, the wife misses having cable TV. She loves the X1 cable box.

I hope we can get them to run the line over. Of course they are less interested in rural areas, I understand that. I wouldn't mind throwing in a few bucks if I have to, b/c the best we can get otherwise is 12/1 DSL which slows down when it rains, snows, kids get out of school, or it is cloudy in Cleveland. Sooner or later Frontier is going to abandon their copper lines here and tell people to use mobile, like the areas which were never rebuilt after Sandy. What I have is not cheap either, $85 month.

got a callback from comcast - phone message today - I am outside their service area - sigh. working on plan B. As soon as I figure one out, I will implement it ruthlessly!
