The top 3 benchmarking utils/games?

Post by Tobad »

What would you consider to be the top 3 benchmarking utilities/games? I wrote up my first review for our page, and wanted to know the "standards" of benchmarking.

I personally don't care much for benchmarks like 3DMark and such. Sure the scores are nice and they can go high, but it has happenend a few times when I had a pretty good score and the game play in the game was really sucky. I preffer to load up a game, put it on high detail (the way all games should be played) and see how much skippage I am getting. Sometimes I wonder why games are released with all the extra details, when even the top notch systems have hard time getting 100% out of them.

Anyways... I can only guess the first two: 3DMark and Quake III. I'm missing the third one...

Personally I use Unreal Tournament as my benchmark. Seems that if I try something and it is going to have problems they show up first in UT.
