NERO? Nero doesn't do captures, unless you have some VERY different version of Nero.

Nero's just a burner.

If you want an all-in one capture/burner then look into MyDVD or Ulead Video Studio. Both good apps.

Nero Vision Express, Not the regular Nero Burning Rom or Nero Express.
It has a capture button, but if I click it it tells me no capture device detected or installed.

Thats ok though cause I don't care for vision express so far and plan to delete it. I'll probaly give it one more shot now that I can capture mpeg2 correctly with the new updates for everything installed, and I converted my fat32 drive to ntfs so now I can capture to my video drive again.

I didn't like it when I was capturing in mpg1, haven't tried doing a mpg2 file yet though.

yeah, nero vision express lets you capture and burn dvd's with the mpeg2 encoder, which I have but it still only saves my captures in avi. which I guess is good from what you guys stated above. a 56 min capture was 11 gigs and took up a little over 1/2 a dvd for me. the thing that really bugs me about nero and easy cd dvd is the utter lack of options for configuring menus and such. with nero, I can use my own menu background but thats about it other than setting the menu title and font. easy dvd only lets you use their template backgrounds and thats it. I saw on the adobe website that they are releasing Encore DVD this summer which looks very cool with lots of control and options.....but its $550. hardly an option at this time.

canton, what way do you connect your camera to your computer? I plug mine in via the firewire port on my audigy and it picks it up fine. the only ways ive been able to get it to recognize my camera was with usb and firewire.

I forgot to mention, there is a greyed-out capture button on the right of the capture window that is always greyed for me. but if I hit play on my camera, the video shows up in the window and hitting the record button underneath the window captures it. dont know what that button is for either.

I never tried just starting the movie :)
So used to clicking the buttons like the greyed out one, I'll give it a try though, maybe it will work??

I don't have a camera yet myself, I am doing VHS tapes and use an ATI AIW radeon 7500 video and capture card.

Been planning to buy the same camera FP has, just haven't been able to yet though. Maybe if I drop enough hints I'll get one for my birthday in august, but I dought it, so probably will buy it this fall sometime.

Finnally got the dirt moved, so once it settles so I can pour the concrete, I can put up a small shop. I think I will donate one of my cars to the computer stuff. Fix it and sell it and buy hardware with the money :)
I got all the stuff sitting here to build some cars, just no decent place with enough room to work.

Then I should be home enough to get back into e-bay, so I'll have a place to sell the extra parts like tail lights from the firebird too..
