I have been running XP Pro since Beta1, and this problem befuddles me.

About a week ago, when i was playing movies on here, XP choked and booted itself, and never been able to play movies ever again. Format you say? Well, i did, 4 times, but no luck. Everytime, it still locks up while playing video (EVen the startup sequence when first installing XP) I finally had it with XP, and installed Win2k, which now works perfectally. Changing drivers for it doesnt work, I used the XP native drivers, then the 21.83 detonator xp's, and then a number of older Detonator drivers.

If anyone can elaborate, or give me some feedback, please do, as im one confused modder right now

Already did that, and its good for me, but i wanted XP!! heh, Like i said, ive had XP since beta1, and all of a sudden, i get this spontanious error that screwed my system up, making me format my WHOLE 80gb drive :\

Time to write to nvidia/microsoft?

Well, I'd say it is definately time to give nvidia tech support a call. Maybe they know what's wrong.

my computer with windows xp prof would always reset itselft and somewhere i forgot where i read but that windows xp resets itself when any kind of error happens even if its not serious theres option somewhere around xp where you can turn off the option of reseting itself every times theres an error

New NVidia drivers just came out.

Also there's an NVidia patch for AMD systems running XP.

My Opinion: Stick with Win2K until the first service pack comes out for XP.

FP: Where can I find this NVIDIA/AMD/XP patch?

I'm assuming it's only for VIA then... I wish I could figure out what is wrong with my customer's system. I'm afraid the ECS K7S5A is defective. Ugh.
