Yes, they were the ones who brought 3d acceleration to the masses but rested on their laurels too long.

Remember the first time sticking in that 3d card and playing a 3d accelerated game?

Its the completion of the end of an era.

I remember my Monster3D card and playing Tombraider or Descent on it for the first time ... and I remember my Voodoo2 12MB SLI playing Unreal for the first time ... 3dfx revolutionized the 3D accelerated games back in the days and I don't wanna know where we would be today without them.

3d who? I remember ordering my Orchid Rightus 3d. Was the fastest and best visual quality of the origanl ones. I had a sli setup but that didnt last long. I dont even remember what I had in there between then and now for the most part. Probably everything at one time or another.

What does creative have to do with 3dfx going down with a flush?

long time ago while 3dfx was hot creative got access to gl software use on there voodoo cards cause of court order to release certain data. the software was suppose to be only be used by creative but creative sold it to the highest bidder of other video card company's. thats how voodoo's unique software got distrubuted all over place and without it being uniqe they were like any other company producing video card. thats why if you buy line ge force 3 all though manufacturers are different the give around the same performance

Expecting my Voodoo5500 Tomorrow.

Sometimes i am a little slow on the take up.

Like my first 3d card was the Vid logic apocalypse card. then after seeing my bro's 3dfx card i went voodoo crazy. had the sli and for ages i was never impressed by the pure power upgrades in the vid market, till i got my Ti 200.

got to download my 5500 drivers quick.

No fearfox, Creative is not responsible for 3dfx's demise. Bad management and bad business decisions led to 3dfx's demise.

Creative had a Glide wrapper out which converted Glide calls into Direct3d calls. 3dfx sued Creative to stopped this. 3dfx relied on Glide for too long for one thing and never did get a good OpenGL driver.

My first 3d was a RealVision Flash3d bought in mid-1997.

The first 3d accelerated games I played were GLQuake followed by the 3dfx version of Tomb Raider.

The next year I got in on the Buycomp Monster 3d II deal. Talk about a game pack-Battlezone, Monster Truck Madness 2 and Incoming. You don't see that anymore.

First 3d card i ever owned was a Monster Fusion Voodoo Banshee... She was sweet in her day... Didn't come with any real thrilling games but it made Monster Truck Madness 2 look a hell of a lot better... I remember the first time i fired it up i was like holy shit i played this game in 2d for that long...lol

Still got my banshee. I don't have my SLI setup tho. only the crossover lead.

Whoohoo even tho Ultamate Race was with the apocalypse card it was amazing to see 3d and those textures on the road. The 3dfx was a quake card, the sli was a beast running q2 in 12#24/768 at overs 100fps, my tnt 2 was on par with the sli setup. then these other cards i got did not quite live up to my expectations.

Voodoo5500 tomorrow. I am just curious on how the old boy peforms.

Brotha was the cause of the fall of 3dfx.
For a year and a half told us how the V5-6K would kick ass.

When it didn't, everyone got pissed an abandoned 3dfx.

Yeah... so sad to see them go..

.... sigh... my timeline clearly shows 3dFX for a time has dominated my wallet... they will always hold a place in my heart... they just were too goddamn stupid when it came to management... none of this would've come to pass if they didn't piss off all the OEM's and decided to go solo in video card production by purchasing STB

It's unfortunate that they died like they did but they deserved it. They made one very innovative product and didn't really change it much. I still have my Monster 3D and Voodoo 2 SLI setup sitting in my closet. Maybe they'll be worth a lot someday???
