Since HardOCP refused to sign Nvidia's 5 Year blanket Non Disclosure Agreement their review is out 2 days early. They managed to source a retail sample overseas.
Looks like the 2070 is about 15% faster then a 1080. The MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z and the MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X, both had an average GPU frequency around 1920. It was a nice coincidence that the default frequencies matched, so they could compare clock-for-clock performance.
The MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z retails for $599 and the MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X retails for $509.
The MSRP on the GTX 1070 was $379 so it's a huge price increase for the RTX 2070.
I guess that's what happens when you have no competition.

Intel is rumored to be working on a card too. I'm not getting my hopes up for it being a gaming card though.
$600 for a mid-range card is ridiculous.

the reviews I haVE seen have been underwhelming. 1080 TI is about the same, except for raytracing, which may or may not ever be a thing. How many people are actually playing at 4K? My 1080 does fine at 1440.

I did see today a review for a EVGA 2070 card with no OC BS on it for the 499 price point, and they seemed pretty happy with it. While it's a little more than I would want to pay for a reference 2070, at least they are offering the choice and so you can beat 1080 performance for a reasonable price.
