Nvidia's New RTX 2060 12GB Declares War On Miners: Report

Post by FlyingPenguin »

Interesting. Steve on Gamer's Nexus is not impressed, and says the card likely won't be optimized to use that extra memory effectively, but hearing from a lot of other outlets just the opposite, so it'll be interesting when they get benchmarked against the older 6GB models and a 3060.

The reason this is practical is that the GPU for these uses an older 12nm process that there's excess capacity to produce.

Also, will be interesting to see what prices are like.

IF they can keep the price around $400, they will sell a bunch of them. I don't understand how all that memory could be utilized outside of multi-monitor setups. Even if you crank up all the settings in a video game, I don't think this card is going to be powerful enough to render more than 1440p @60. It seems 8 GB would be enough RAM.
