Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge......cool BUT......

Looks awesome and maybe I'll opt for that version of the S6 but that curved front glass looks like it'd easily be damaged if dropped and as we all know.....happens.

Even the cases (available already) don't look like they'd protect that curved edge:

and anything bulkier defeats the purpose of having that curved edge glass.

Might opt for the tougher, waterproof Active version which is even larger but I'd have to see that first.

For me, no expandable storage is a deal-breaker. I'd also break the S6 the first day.

The S4 has only 16gb onboard storage and although I have a 64gb card added, after 2 yrs it's mostly unused except for the several hundred pics I keep in it.
I don't keep much music in it so if I bought a 64gb version, should be more than enough for 2 yrs which is when it'll be old again. They'll have a 128bg version too.

The SD card serves 2 purposes. More space and backup storage, especially if you don't like to backup remotely. I happen to use both (keep stuff on the card and backup remotely). They also have software that you run at home and performs to backups over wireless.

Other than looks, there's no practical benefit to that curved glass edge, and it IS asking to be broken.

If I recall they run a special API for apps to display stuff on the edge so you can view status updates and the like from the side without having to power on the whole screen.

Non-user replaceable battery and no micro sd card slot is a deal breaker for me. Unlike the Galaxy S5, its not waterproof either. Having to buy another version, and likely pay more, to get something you previously had... Cute.

Samsung is seeming to forget why people buy their phones instead of Iphones.
When all else fails, replace the user.

The curve is just one of 3 variations so far and they will still have a waterproof Active version, like the S5 Active as well. See link above.
I've never needed to have a waterproof phone or replace the battery in my S4 so far
Are there similar new phones with replaceable batteries anymore?

The LG G3 has a replaceable battery and removal storage. The HTC one and Sony Z3 have removal storage but a non replaceable battery. I think the Lumina has removable storage but it's a Windows phone.
