Foobar2000 for Android

I use Foobar2000 as my default music player on my computer mainly because it can handle any format and play it gaplessly. I knew they were working on a mobile version but I didn't know it was released until a couple of weeks ago. I've been listening with it and for the most part it's okay. Since I normally use PowerAmp, I can only compare it with its features. The organization in Foobar is as good as Poweramp. However Foobar lacks any editing features. Foobar does support plugins but I haven't installed any. I suspect there will be plugins to do whatever you need if the mobile version is supported as well as the Windows version. The lock screen controls for Foobar suck and are unreliable. With Poweramp you can control playback with the phone locked. This isn't the case with Poweramp. Sometimes it works and sometimes you have to unlock the phone completely in order to stop the track. Foobar lacks independent volume control and tone options. However, music played by Foobar sounds better to me as Poweramp colors the music a bit even though I have the equalizer turned off and the tone settings at zero.

Foobar 2000 is a good free barebones music player that will play anything you throw at it and supports gapless playback. I still think Poweramp is the better choice overall even though it costs money. It's well worth it for a mature player.

Also,

Thanks FP for getting out Spam filter fixed so I could post this review. Apparently, "Free Music Player" was in our block list.
