http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/01/ ... ogle-maps/Google Maps is providing a big update for ride sharers: direct booking integration. In a post on the official blog today, Google announced you'll now be able to search, browse, request, and pay for an Uber directly from Google Maps. You don't even need the Uber app installed; Google says you merely need to sign into your Uber account for it to work.

I've used Uber quite a lot when I travel (don't have Uber around here, sadly). This is a nice update to Google maps, although I'll probably stick to my Uber app. I actually need to install Lyft sometime and try it out because I'm told you can tip from the Lyft app - something you can't do with Uber, and I always like to tip. Drivers don't make much money on short rides.
