How to stop your iPhone from autoplaying music in the car

THIS drives me insane on my iPod Touch in my Yukon. If a podcast ends, it automatically starts playing the first (alphabetically) song on the iPod. If I play a live stream from a news station or NPR, as soon as the stream ends, that first song in my list plays again.
There's no way to disable it from the car radio, so I had to go with option 2 and add a silent audio file and make the song title alphabetically the first one on my iPod. It still plays that silent file, but at least Genesis' Abacab doesn't come blasting out of my speakers.
