Android Users: To Avoid Malware, Try the F-Droid App Store

Post by FlyingPenguin »

This is a separate Android store (you need to download their app store app from their website) that is curated by a group of security researchers to ensure that only ad free, open source apps that are verified not to harvest information from you are made available from them.

Nice to see an open source WifiAnalyzer is on their vetted list to replace the one I'm using that contains ads: https://f-droid.org/packages/com.vrem.wifianalyzer/

They also have an open source file manager I want to try to use as a replacement for ES File Explorer: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.sim ... lemanager/

The search engine on their website and app is a little wonky (just searching for "file manager" didn't bring it up) but I find that if you search for "file manager f-droid" in Google, you'll get what you want.
