My future gaming laptop

I'm probably going to be buying this Asus laptop:

I really like the design and how easy it is to access the inside. It's an i7 cpu, so its more of a mid range gaming laptop. I can't see spending $2k+ for a gaming laptop. I'm currently using my Dell G5 SE 5505, but the fans are quite loud, and I have gotten a game to simply quit to the desktop because of heat.

I had one of those. Great while it worked. Died after exactly 2yrs. No rhyme or reason as to why it died. I'm still meaning to pull out my two drives so I can drop the larger one into my new gaming laptop.

So what gaming laptop do you have?

I've actually put a pause on this for now. I had some major expenditures this month, and that includes our vacation trip back in June to Tennessee and Maryland. Told the wife I'm not interested in travel anymore. The last 4 times I've traveled, I always get sick due to the airport or plan.

I think I'm going to postpone the laptop and think about upgrading my desktop instead. It's a 10 year old system with an Asus motherboard. It works great, but the hardware does not support windows 11. I can do the bypass, but trying to play newer games shows its age.

Unless you NEED a gaming laptop, I would go with a desktop. It would be upgradable, where a laptop is not.

I would stick to Corsair Vengeance memory. It just works.

I think I can get by with my Dell G5 SE 5505 for now. Runs hot, even after applying new thermal paste and replacing all the old thermal pads. On occasion, it will quit to the desktop if it gets too hot. What I do now when playing, I limit my game time to ~1 hour then quit the game. I then go back after about 15-30 minutes to play again. Seems to work.

Thanks for the tip on memory. I'm still looking at that site you suggested for a custom built desktop. I might have to wait a few more months before I can swing it.

I travel a good amount and when I do, I like to game during my down time. I currently have a Lenovo Legion Pro 7.
