Eck. Can't help you with that one. Outlook Express is easy to backup - I have a ton of info on that. Outlook is more arcane.

You best bet is to do some searches on Google and Google newsgroups.

Found this which might help: http://www.all-windows.com/backup.html

Outlook is sooo easy ;)

File | Import/Export | Export to file | select the .pst | select the personal folder and mark Include Subfolders | choose a backup location

et voila, done .... and importing is as easy :D

I use Express, but have never used Outlook - are there any benefits to using it? I've got six e-mail accounts and if it's worth using, I'll hop on the bandwagon...

I'm just used to good old Outlook cause back in the days it was one of the few programs that could check several pop3 accounts in one turn, something important for me. I never used OE so I can't really say in which way it might be better.

Actually DocSilly, that doesn't work or at least for me it doesn't. The PST file keeps my email and folders and rules but not my email accounts. I just recently found how to backup the junk senders list (500+ KB text file for me).

*EDIT*

I also used to use OE and switched to Outlook. I have NEVER looked back either. For some reason, Outlook is just better, I used to love OE though. Now it's like completely reversed.

Thank you Doc. :)

But you say it doesn't work for you Busby? Gues I'll find out soon enough.

As for outlook vs oe, oe is far faster. I use outlook because I have to. With it I can have a mailing list, can't with oe and I have to have that for our news. Otherwise I believe I'd prefer oe. OE can check multiple email accounts too.

Oh yeah, outlook has a nifty speel checker. :D

Outlook uses word as the email editor.

In Outlook XP, after going to File -> Import and Export then Export and selecting .PST file, only my email folders are saved.

http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2002/missing.htm explains the features missing in Outlook 2002, so if you don't use Outlook 2002 (XP) your cool.

If you do use Outlook XP and can get it done, please please please please please let me know how :)

By the way, Junk Senders is located under Application Data/Microsoft/Outlook. I am not sure about the location in Win 9x but in Win2k it's under Documents and Setting/<username>
