JOHN McCain defends FBI, DOJ as Trump declassifies Nunes memo
“The latest attacks against the FBI and Department of Justice serve no American interests ― no party’s, no President’s, only Putin’s,” McCain added. “The American people deserve to know all the facts surrounding Russia’s ongoing efforts to subvert our democracy, which is why Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation must proceed unimpeded. Our nation’s elected officials, including the president, must stop looking at this investigation through the lens of politics and manufacturing political sideshows. If we continue to undermine our own rule of law, we are doing Putin’s job for him.”

I think Trump doesn't understand that this memo was probably released to give him a little cover in the future in case anything goes before a judge. It throws a little doubt into the air that a good attorney can use later. I'm sure someone TRIED explained the big picture to Trump, but he doesn't get it. Already Republican lawmakers are distancing themselves from his statement that the memo exonerates him, or even has anything to do with the Mueller investigation.

GOP lawmakers are likely just setting some legal background that can be used later - but Trump doesn't get 'subtle'.

The memo, if you read it, actually shoots itself in the foot a bit as it clearly states there were other circumstances going as far back as 2013 that led to the FISA court warrant.

The memo may end up back firing, and in the end accomplishes nothing. If you love Trump then you don't care, you'll believe anything he says. If you don't like Trump, you don't care, and this swings no one in the centrist or libertarian camps.

If Trump tries to use the memo to fire Rosenstein or Mueller, then GOP lawmakers are going to find it hard to defend those actions and Trump opens himself up to REAL obstruction charges.

What he should have done is kept his mouth shut and let the GOP lawmakers quietly build up a cloud of doubt that will benefit him in the long run, but Trump doesn't understand the long game. He needs to live with Mueller and ignore the investigation, which may go on for years, but like Nixon he's obsessed with the investigation and can't let it go.

For the life of me, I don't understand why Trump's lawyers don't tell him to lay off the Tweets. Maybe they do and he just doesn't listen.

Like FP stated, he's as obsessed as Nixon with the investigation:
