Lends a new flavor to "bad optics".
My father who was a hunter was a long time member of the NRA. After the NRA response to Columbine he cancelled his membership and wrote them a nice long FU letter.
All these guys do now is lobby for the gun industry. They don't give a rat's ass about their membership. It's all about selling guns.

It's really sad that the NRA used to be about promoting safety and firearm tech. It would be interesting if there was a correlation between the NRA's increased lobbying efforts and increased gun violence among teens.

If I was a conspiracy guy, I'd guess an organization that is dedicated to making weapons available to crazies, teenagers and gun dealers might be getting funding and support from people who are not friendly to this country.
