Trump administration plans to help farmers hurt by global trade tensions

Warning: Autoplay.
The Trump administration will announce a plan on Tuesday to extend billions of dollars in aid to farmers negatively affected by tariffs resulting from President Donald Trump's widening trade feud with other countries.
The administration is expected to roll out the plan Tuesday afternoon, a source familiar with the matter confirmed to CNN, offering much-needed support to farmers caught up in the burgeoning trade war...
Are we going to drug test all of the farmers before they get their aid? /s

Apparently the soy bean farmers are getting hit the hardest since they are one of the largest exporters to China.

I've been following Brexit pretty closely, and have learned a lot about world trade. When a supplier leaves a market - due to tariffs, crop failure, etc - the buyer finds a new supplier. Once the supplier is changed (a huge hassle for big operations) there is little incentive to return to the previous supplier.

Applying this principal to Trumponomics, if trade wars started by Trump result in a loss of market to american businesses, they may not get that market back.

Suppliers to just-in-time manufacturing processes are especially vulnerable to this problem. If they cannot deliver, they are gone. The Brits are headed for a huge problem b/c they do a lot of JIT manufacturing governed by EU standards, and after Brexit the lose all their certifications, and will eventually have to replicate all of the industry bodies that maintain standards.
