Bodies will stay on the ground until the end of the round for one thing. I like that.

I'm a BETA tester but I was not emailed the special offer code needed so therefore haven't had access to the 1.4 files yet. I contacted a person that is going to forward my email on to Valve to try and get a special access code, since I should get one.

CS really went to the crapper after 5.2.I still fire it up from time to time but mostly play a little TFC now and then.I'd like to go back to it but not until they go for some serious anti-cheat efforts.

I started CS in version 4 and by far the best gameplay was towards the end of the 5.0 versions.

CS is a casualty of it's own popularity. It's popular and hip to play CS so EVERYONE wants to play it, but a lot of the "kiddies" (my appologies to those here who are young AND mature) out there don't really have the patience for the game (it's brains over reflex). Frustrated, they resort to cheating.

It's definately ruined the game.

Another thing that's ruined it for me is the EXTREME weapon physics that were added in later versions. Sorry, I'm a very serious and dedicated player but it's rediculously hard to hit your target in this game. Much harder than it should be.

I also miss some of the old maps which stressed tactics. And I miss the cramped maps like SHIP (man I loved that game). No one wants to play the remaining cramped area maps like 747 (my FAV!) and OILRIG. In the real world, terrorists don't stand out in the wide open spaces and game immersion is my big thing.

All this essentially drove my to DoD which I love. A): You can hit your target WITHOUT being a geometry major, B) there's fewer cheaters (although Dod's getting so popular now, that's changing) and C) Many of the maps are VERY realistic and stress tactics. Caen and Koln for instance.

I'm just worried about the upcoming "weapon physics" being added to Dod - I'm afraid it'll ruin the game like it did for CS.

From what I have read about it FP, you won't have to worry that much. All the recoil does is cause a slight lifting of the barrel when you shoot, which is how it should be. I saw those videos of it in action and aside from the MG's (which are, and should be, forrendous while running) this lift isn't that bad. Just enough to cause people to use a little skill.

cs is not a lost cause, you just need to know servers where older people play. or get into clanning, league supervision is quite good.

I fall into the category of CS players who get bored with the same old thing, so I do stupid things to keep myself entertained. I tend to play with the worst guns possible, go pistols only, or knife. Other times I do stuff that tends to piss people off, though that isn't why I do it. I don't want to sound cocky (though I guess I will), but I play like this mostly because I'm so much better than pretty much anyone I play. If I ever get back into CS, I'll need to find some good elite servers where I can get my butt kicked, because I go 3:1 with guns like the TMP where I play. I guess you could say I fall into the category of CS players who are immature and ruin the game, though the only reason I do what I do is to salvage any fun I can from the game. I've almost totally stopped playing now (played maybe 3 hours total in the last 2 months) as I've moved on to other games and I've gotten some figment of a life.
I'm not really sure what this has to do with CS 1.4 or DOD, but oh well. Cheaters suck, hopefully 1.4 fixes at least part of that problem.
