Mouse related prob in games......

Post by EvilHorace »

Besides playing singleplayer RTCW which I finally finished, I havent played much else lately but I've finally realized an annoying new problem that occurs in all games now so it's probably got something to do with my newer cordless optical mouse (not lag either). I have my 'mouse2' button set for "move forward" with my 'mouse1' button set to "fire". Now, everytime I'm moving forward and fire while moving (both buttons depressed), the forward motion stops until I lift off the mouse2 (forward) button and push down on it again. This isn't good for gaming as I like shooting 'on the fly' :)

I can't imagine why this is now happening but it's not just one game either so it must be related to a mouse setting. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

I've heard of this problems with some Logitech mice (not necessarily cordless) and haven't heard of any fix.

In generall wireless mice aren't very good for gaming though.

Logitech? Using Mouseware? Switch to default Win 2k/Win XP drivers if you are using Win2k or Win XP. If you are using Win 98 then I'm sorry. I've emailed Logitech about the bug and it hasn't been fixed. I use default drivers and all work for me. Logitech wired Optical Wheel Mouse.

It's Win2K and my laptop has the same OS and mouse and mouse driver, same mouse problem with games too.
It's a 3 button mouse (has thumb button) w wheel. Would everything still function if I switched to default mouse drivers? I don't see anything obvious in the mouse properties setting's that'd cause this button related problem.

Solved

Just happened to stop over at Logitechs site and look into new mouse software where it's written that there's some issues with Win2K with older mouseware versions after the latest Win2K upgrade (#2, NOT the one that recently came out since then just last month). I DLd and installed the latest mouseware and now everything's just ducky :)

Works perfectly in all games.
