Lot of games are now into mini-box packages, like DS, Freedom Force, Ultime Online....

yep. kind of nice for those wo save the poxes...and the big ones were usually just a waist of space anyways. now with games comming in just a jewel case i na hube box seemed pritty stupid.

they should have changed it to things liek the PS2's or dvd's I think.

It needed to happen. With so many new consoles last year (Gamecube, Xbox, PS2) stores were having to setup new display space for the consoles at the expense of PC game space. EA was the first to react with a smaller box and everyone seems to have adopted the idea. I like it.

Not to mention it's more environmentally friendly - less cardboard to throw away. Always seemed stupid to use a box the size of a serial box and then stick one CD in it and a BIG chunk of cardboard to brace it in place.

Myself I personally like the smaller box, easy to store and stack not to mention it would look way more impressive to have a ton of small boxed games lining your shelf :D
only ONE bad thing... they are SO easy to STEAL. People just come in and tuck one into their jacket and there goes $50 + !!! we now keep all our expensive games locked up in our Tech room at Staples. Jedi Outcast, Tony Hawk 3, Dungeon Siege etc etc... And plus at our Staples we don't have magnetic strips on anything....STUPID !!!!!!!! as long as it's small enough not to notice, it can disappear and nobody will know, we do have camera's but that doesn't seem to stop people....

Somebody stole an 800 dollare DVD burner !!!
idiots...I think somebody knows what's goin on...but just won't say anything...(it could be an inside job)
anyway, my 2 cents :)

I like the smaller boxes. How many times have you opened up one of these big old boxes and all you found was a cd jewel case? What a waste.

Unfortunately with the smaller boxes the prices don't seem to have declined.
