Has anyone got GTA3 for PC yet?

I haven't seen it in the local stores yet, but I love the game and played it to death on the Playstation2 - if you've got it, then can you tell me it's worth buying again?

I got my preorder today from EB. I am at work still so I can't tell you how it is for sure. I did load it up on my laptop here and it seems to run ok. It should run really good on my box at home from the looks of it.

I ran to BestBuy today but unfortunately their shipment doesn't come in till tomorrow. I agree, it was sweet on the PS2! Can't wait till tomorrow.

I am incredibly mad that they went back on their word about releasing it to Xbox. My piece of crap computer will barely run that thing and I didn't want to upgrade for a while, but I might have to in order to play it well. One of the biggest reasons I got an Xbox was because they said GTA3 would be coming to it.

I also will have to get a nice gamepad, as IMO, playing with a gamepad is one of the best parts of the game (borrowed my friend's PS2 for a little while and loved GTA3).
So I guess I have to convince my dad to let me upgrade. Now if Thoroughbred would just get here already...

I just got done trying it. I have it running at 1280x1024 with all details cranked and I disabled the blur effect which I don't care for. With all that turned on the game still runs extremely smooth. I got a control pad as well. I have to tweak the controls yet but I can see myself spending some serious time on this. It just looks so much better on my PC...

You're running a pretty high-end right right? P4 2.x, GF4 Ti4600 IIRC... Do you like the game better on PC other than the enhanced graphics? Any other differences? I am really looking forward to playing this

Also, what gamepad are you using? I'm thinking of picking up a Thrustmaster Dual Power or new cordless Thrustmaster or the new cordless Logitech. I've heard all are very good but I'm not sure which to go with. Ideally I would hook up my Xbox controller to my PC via a converter but that is not likely to happen, at least for a little while, especially because of the extra power requirements.

My brother picked it up and had an issue using the Detanator drivers for his GF3 running WinXP. Everything worked fine but all the text was blocked out. In the whole game you couldn't read any text. Which makes it hard to change settings and what not.
He loaded it on his other system with the non Det drivers and it ran fine.

Yeah I am running a P4 @ 2.7 with a GF4 Ti4600. I have not put a lot of time into the game yet as I haven't had time but it seems to be the same game so far. I got a Thrustmaster Dual Power pad and I like it so far. I haven't played it since my last post but hopefully this weekend I'll be able to get some more time in on it and tweak my controls some more.
Lostman: There is a known issue with XP. Just read the game's readme for the fix.

I was playing it and I pumped everything up an ran it at 1024x768 and it would run slow in parts

I don't get it. I would think a 1.4GHz w/256mb RAM and a Radeon 8500 would run almost any game at 1024x768 perfectly, though this is not the case. Its funny that I can run Quake3 at 1280x1024 perfectly smooth yet duing Mutlplayer in Wolfenstein, I get 20-30fps out on the beach....
Anyway, back to the game. It was pretty fun though real easy to tip the vehicle. I also thought it didn't look all that great. All the textures just seemed kinda blurred and not real crisp--just looks/feels like a game that was made for console and then converted to PC and I don't like that.
I also wish that when you shot the gun it would fire that second. There is a split second between when you click the mouse and when the gun actually fires and it really messes me up. It is fun, but the videos I saw made it look a ton better :-/

I decided to try this game out after hearing all the hype of how good it is and I'm glad I did... it's hella fun! Haven't played anything like it before which is cool.

You can in the PS2 version, and I'm pretty sure that hasn't changed. Just use a few rockets (3 should do it).

1 Bazooka shell or 180 rounds of M16 ammo will pop a helicopter. Fun game, but I find that it stutters sometimes...hard drive loading crap? This is really bugging me...I defragged all my HD's but performance is still so-so. Weird-I get great framerates, but general game suttering issues.

I'm running it on my system at 1280x1024 without a hiccup... All eye candy maxed out.. retail 8500 512 megs of ram RAID 0 and a 1.66 gig XP... no problems here at all with XP Pro.

I'm really interesting in picking up a copy of this game too at my local FutureShop, but alas short on playdough. Too bad there ain't a demo version out yet
Seems like I may have to upgrade the video card in my current rig if I wanna play at a decent res w/o choking the system. Anybody played it with a P3 1Ghz and a Radeon AIW? If so how is the performance? At what res?
