Gunman
I don't know what's going on with the short games. Maybe they make them short so they can pump 'em out faster. Maybe they do it so later in the year you get to buy the sequel, which is shorter.
And of course there are bugs. I have found that if you are playing and decide to load a previously saved game you can hear the sounds but only get the Gunman splash screen. Also the game didn't install completely. The damn thing kept stopping with 10% remaining. The game played without any problems though. Go figure.

Voyager turned shorter because the original maps were to big and when they pared it down, the game got reduced.
There's a school of thought that many games are TOO LONG. A lot of people don't have time to spend 40+ hours on a game. Work, school, family, you know, LIFE have to compete with those who have nothing to do but play games.
The most I can spend playing a game is about 1-2 hours, 2-3 nights a week. Short games like Elite Force and HL: OpFor took me about 4 nights to play (9-12 hours). Way too short.
OTOH, it took me 7 weeks and about 30 hours to play Deus Ex and I was using the Infinite Aug Power bug to allow me faster progress. I remember spending 2 months on Half-Life.
They certainly aren't pumping these games out that fast, either. GoD is about ready to put a bullet into Max Payne because they're tight on cash and it's been FOUR years in development. I don't even want to think about DNF!

I, for one don't mind the short games if they are priced accordingly. Not any of that $50 crap.
So far, I have seen this title at EB for $30 smacks and a $10 rebate from sierra, making it $20. Not a bad deal.
Only downside to that is if the game is really good and you don't want to see it end. Eg. Elite Force and FAAK2(yeah, I liked it).
