Microsoft confirms that Windows 10 KB4482887 update can degrade graphics & mouse performance in certain games

Post by FlyingPenguin »

I'm going to disable it myself tonight because I've been noticing some strange lag and killing floor 2 for the past week. I worked around it by increasing the DPI of my mouse but that shouldn't have been necessary.

Well I didn't have it installed, but if you want to uninstall it (yes you can uninstall an individual update in WIn10):
To uninstall the KB4482887 update, open Settings (from the Start menu, or 'All settings' from the action center slide out) select Update & Security, then click on the "View update history" link on the Windows Update page, then the "Uninstall updates" link; the classic Control Panel will open, after which you can select the KB4482887 update and right click to uninstall it.

I didn't see it installed on my new rig either. I've been dying in Dark Souls III lately and haven't noticed any performance issues. My history is odd as it shows 1803 as failed but I'm running 1803. It's showing 1809, which I don't want, as needing a restart to install but it never prompts me to do so.

I'm not worried as this new rig has been running non stop for almost 3 weeks now. So far everything is running smooth.

Might be an 1809 only update. I'm still on 1803 on my gaming rig and deferring as long as I can.

I'm on 1809 on this Dell E6540 laptop that I purchased used with a fresh install on 2/13/2019. I don't see that patch installed.

I'm apparently on 1709. Should I even be trying to move to 1809 or just leave it?

1709 is end of life this April. That's why I updated my gaming PC and laptops to 1803. Not sure if I trust 1809 yet with all the issues it's had.

I think Windows Update will probably try to push you to 1809. Not sure. You can always use an 1803 installer DVD to upgrade. I have an ISO for 1803 if you need it. Or image the drive and give 1809 a shot.
