Project Borealis is a fan-made Half-Life 2: Episode 3 based on the Epistle 3 script posted by former Valve writer Marc Laidlaw. It's been in development since 2017, and today the team showcased the first footage of some new maps, along with a shootout with some creepy homunculi still awaiting their textures.
The update explores the level design process, showing off a chilly cave's development from a section of a script to an in-game map that's had its first art pass. We also get to see some of the progress the team's made with the episode's physics, and it's going to be switching to the new Unreal Chaos Physics system and AMD's FEM deformation tool when they're released, but they've already been doing a lot of experimenting with PhysX.
So we may see something in 2 years or so?
I went back and finished HL2, Episode 1 and 2. What a blast, and looking back now on better hardware, that HL2 game really set some new standards for gaming. Playing on modern hardware the game is silky smooth.
I haven't installed it yet but I watch a guy stream HL-2 with this mod. It looks great. It contains many improved textures and adds a couple of weapons like the stun baton.

Thanks for those links. I'll install it later this week.

Well, according to all the readme files (they have several and all say the same thing) you need to download this: http://cinematicmod.com/cinematic_mod_2013.php but the link does not work as I get a sever not found error.

You don't need it. The guy's VOD I linked above didn't use it. I think the readme is saying that you need to have it installed first if you plan to use it.
Got it installed and it does make a difference in the game play visuals. The gun mods are great. I did have an issue with an error that I got in chapter 2 after you get into the single train car with a human and an alien. After getting out of the train car where it loads the game, I get this error: A.I. Di (meaning the AI is dead). To fix it, I had to use the console by enabling developer mode, then enter these commands:
sv_cheats 1
ai_norebuildgraph
ai_resume
Save the game and then restart it loading your last save game. https://www.reddit.com/r/HalfLife/comme ... ter_every/

The ai_norebuidgraph should be set to 1 (ai_norebuildgraph 1) and not left blank. It was the only way I could get it to work.

Well I continue to receive the missing AI error, and I also encountered visual artifacts - a checkerboard latter going up to the crane. Also had an issue in disabling force field in order to proceed with with the buggy. Bummer it does not work like it should, so I removed it.
