Been a while since I fired up new version of Minecraft. Looks like they have a scaffold block now, which sounds like a good thing if you're building stuff in survival mode.
The thing about scaffold is if you destroy the bottom one, everything above it collapses.
Here's a video of a guy who built a HUGE structure and then showed what happened when he collapsed all his scaffolds.

Every once in a while I hop on to play with my daughter and I'm surprised by something I totally didn't expect.
