I'm sure Mickey will chime in, but I would think that you'll need to create/buy a mounting baffle based on the size of the woofer.

Well, there aren't too many resources for the public. The biggest challenge is finding out if the depth will work. Most speaker manufacturers are aware of this though & try to keep things slim. 2-1/16" is fairly shallow, so you should be good.

Here's the only info I could find for ya (which just confirms things for ya):
http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/ste ... /1007.html

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/gmc-sono ... akers.html

I'd throw the tweeters into the 4x6 openings if I were you. Just make a bracket for them with strip steel to pan the speaker openings.

I'd pull them. Otherwise, they'll color the sound of your brand new speakers. Are you powering them off of a factory radio or something else? If it's factory, things will be a bit complex, because they may not run a full range signal to the doors & so you may have to do something funny to get the tweeters to do anything.

I have an aftermarket radio (Kenwood KDC-152) see this link:

I'm using the factory wiring for the speakers

What do you suggest? Both sets of speakers or just the separates

I suggest ditching the 4x6" speakers & throwing a tweeter in their location. And throwing 6 3/4" speakers in the doors of course. I'd run new wires straight from the radio for everything unless you can verify that the current ones don't have anything in between them.

As for which speakers, well, I like the sound quality of the Crystals & Pioneers the most personally. The Kickers & Pioneers aren't so potent with bass, so if you don't have a sub, I'd go with the Crystals or Kenwoods.

Just an update, I bought a subwoofer, set of components and wire from normalicy earlier this month. I have been busy with other household duties and work but finally got around to starting the process today. I have removed the door panels and removed the factory 6.75" door speakers (talk about crap). I also removed the factory 4x6" speakers in the upper dash (even crappier!). I am trying to figure out where is the best place to mount the component crossover. I read that the proximity to the speakers is important. My question is should they be closer to the woofer or the tweeter? I am thinking of mounting them in the pod where the 4x6" speakers were housed along with the tweeter. Any advice?
