A couple of Visio 42" HDTVs. Media Center PC on each setup to control Comcast HD tuner. 4Tb NAS for a media server, and both my Media Center PCs can see each other's DVR recordings.

My setup is a little dated.. But not looking at upgrading anything until we move early next year.

42" Phillips Plasma - This beast is heavy and puts off a lot of heat. But it still works. :)

Bose Lifestyle Lifestyle 12 System - Still one of the best sounding systems I've heard. This one is 15 years old, bought it off of my brother for $200 about a year ago when he upgraded to a new Bose system. One of these days I'll take it apart and resolder the power jack and fix the LCD display issues. But it works as long as I don't touch it.. haha

PS3 - For Blu-Ray & Streaming

Rather simple actually. A 42" plasma surrounded by a pair of Klipsch towers, center, & surrounds. I've got an Infinity sub, but it barely gets used these days with a kid in the house. They're all powered off of a Technics receiver from the '90s (but it has optical & analog 5.1 input). The only source is a home brew HTPC that I stuffed into the corpse of a Sony receiver. My 8TB file server serves everything. I like Media center, but it seems fails me so often that I usually just browse to the file I want and watch stuff with VLC. I also have a 42" with a mild HTPC setup in my bedroom.

I've had good luck with Media Center, although I feel that Media Center XP was more stable than the Win7 version. I never had to reboot my XP MCE PCs but the Win7 PCs seem to develop some sort of problem over time that starts slowing them down. You can tell because the drive light is lit all the time when they're idling. Then you have to reboot them.

I actually have 3 media center PCs running in the house now. The two mentioned above and one in the bedroom on a 32" Samsung HDTV. I use them in 720p resolution (I don't record or play anything at 1080p). They are all connected to Comcast HDTV cable boxes and they can control the cable boxes with a IR bug.

I really like Media Center as opposed to Comcast's DVRs. Not only are they more responsive, you also have a 60 second skip (30 second reverse skip) feature in media center which makes skipping through commercials a breeze. It's hard for me to use the fast forward on a Comcast DVR.

I also love that I can access the recordings from any Media Center PC from any other Media Center PC. Media Center also does Netflix streaming WAY better than any other alternative I've used.

I guess I need to be educated on this stuff. I don't have anything like what is mentioned in these threads except for a 52" plasma and a sound bar.

I believe that most of my issues are attempting to play files from torrents that are of oddball encoding. Also, it gets kind of cranky trying to play certain ISO files.
