The Resurrectionist by Jack O'Connell: A pharmacist named Sweeney had moved his comatose son, Danny, to the Peck Clinic in hopes of "waking" him. Sweeney has devoted his every moment to his son who is in the coma due to an unfortunate set of circumstances that are revealed later in the book. When Sweeney isn't working the graveyard shift at the clinic's pharmacy, he attends to his son and reads Limbo comics to him. These were Danny's favorite prior to the accident and tell the tale of Chicken Boy, a band of circus freaks, and a strong man as they travel in search of Chicken Boy's Father. O'Connell weaves both tails together until the reader is left deciding what is real and what is make believe.

This is very unusual book and I really enjoyed its offbeat noir tone. After reading how Sweeney came to the peak clinic and a bit about Danny, the reader is then introduced to Chicken Boy and the rest of the circus freaks. The two stories don't seem related but they come together as the stories progress. If you're looking for something different, this is the book to read.
