of a series

John: Have you read Brandon Sanderson? Haven't read anything by the man that fails to satisfy. Also check out Adrian Tchaikovsky's ongoing Shadows of the Apt series. And on the more gritty side of fantasy: how about Joe Abercrombie?
C. S. Friedman's Magister Trilogy is solid, as are the first 2 books in Jon Sprunk's Shadow Saga novels.

I've read a lot of Abercrombie's stuff and enjoyed most of it - I'll check out the others. I just ordered the 10 volume compilation of Zelazny's Princes of Amber - been meaning to reread them for years - that should get me through a couple of snowstorms this winter!
