Nforce2 question

Post by nexus_7 »

ok...In my system I have 3 dimms in use. all 3 are 256m sticks.

Will this be bad on an NF2? Will I need to replace them with 2 larger sticks? or what?

on ze nforce, there are two channels that when used give you the 128 bit bus - they have to be matched sticks - if you populate all three slots, then you don't get the dual bus feature

1 run 2x512 in one 2x256 in the other

dual channel still works with 3 sticks... bank 0(dimm1) is one channel. Bank 1(dimm2 and 3) is the 2nd channel. Pulled this right of the Epox 8RDA manual :)

Doesn't have to be matching sticks....

I'm gonna get the TWIN pair of the low latency PC2700 Corsair XMS to run in a dual channel....that will hopefully preform better.
