P4 3.2 Extreme Edition - Initial Results

Post by TheDude »

Just dropped the P4 EE review sample in my box. Haven't tweaked anything yet (on the CPU) so I don't know about overclocking. I will say that the chip runs 1-2C cooler than a P4 3.2C and in theory the extra L3 cache should help in that area.

Anyway, 1st pass initial results:

* Sandra Max3
CPU Multi-Media Benchmark (combined performance index)
index : 37268

Standalone Multimedia Benchmark
interger: 14746 / float: 23248

Standalone arithmatic benchmark:
ALU: 9313
FPU/SSE2: 2752/6136

* Aquamark3
Score: 48908

* 3DMark01 SE
Score: 20597 3D marks

* 3DMark03 v330
Score: 6579

I'll bench some games over the weekend.

;) had I known I would have been gaming on a XEON ;)

thoughts?

nice - wish i had the $$ to get in on that dell deal where they were upgrading the 400sc to a 3.2 for cheap

when you do the game benches, try the hyperthread and run two at once - i have seem some reports that the second instance runs nearly as fast as the first

will it be worth the money? I dunno. This is a review sample.

Greg: either a dead heat or just faster, you are correct.
