ASUS Motherboard - Cant get into the bios !!

Post by WeekendWarrior »

Hey everyone, I just got a new mobo an ASUS A7V8X-X which is running an amd xp 2100 (14 months old) my msi mobo fried.
anyway I have never had an asus and it works fine in windows xp pro, the problem is I cannot get into the bios ! And I cant load the ezbios screen to flash it.
WHen I reboot and hit the delete key nothing happens.
The guy that installed it said I have to hit the delete key at just the right time, but wtf? I have tried for 2 days and it wont work.
any ideas? should I clear the cmos for some reason?
thanks
Dave

You may try..

Hitting some of the other common keys for entering the bios, or hold down Insert while rebooting. Not sure if any of that helps.. On the insert thing, make sure it's a PS/2 keyboard.

Ok thanks guys I think I got it fixed.
I flashed the bios from windows using the update utility.
It was the same version number but the old one must have been corrupted already or something.
I can get into the bios now most times anyway...
