Almost as if the DVD is dirty or something, only, it's not. It's happened on both of the DVD's I currently own.
I have an ATI AIW 32mb Radeon and am using the DVD software that came with it. I have a Pioneer 105s (16x/40x) so it's plenty fast. I originally thought it was that I didn't have "DMA" in system properties checked, but when I check it and restart, it doesn't stay. I would update my firmware but Pioneer still says that it's "Comming Soon" Yet myself with other members of this baord have one? Queer. Anyway, anybody know what could be causing this?
BTW: My system is a 700 athlon, it's plenty fast for what I'm trying to do. Running Win98SE.

Do u have the latest drivers for your video card and the newest directX?

I do have the latest video card drivers, but I haven't bothered with DX8 as I hear it doesn't really improve anything. Think I should give it a try?

take a can of air and blow out the inside of the drive its self. also might want 2 defrag and uninstall and reinstall the ati software. some times when you install a program the ati dvd software gets all goofy.

I Defraged and tried it. Not any better. I reinstalled the Drivers and tried it. Not any better. I installed DX8 and tried it. Not any better. Could it be that i don't have DMA checked on the drive?
This is what I thought it was, but like I said, when I try to check it, restart, and come back to windows, it has been unchecked for some odd reason. I would update the firmware, but there aren't any updates for the latest drive (105 or 115)

hmm, don't have any compressed air. I guess I'll try to pick some up sometime. Man, this bites.

what chipset U using? VIA has new drivers As does intel for the chipsets. Migh wana try them. I know it helped with that.

I have an Abit KA7-100 with the Via KX133 chipset. I have the latest 4-in-1 drivers from Via's website. (had to have 'em since I have a Radeon and you MUST have them for stability reasons)

Well, I installed PowerDVD 2.55 and it's running perfectly smooth. Although the image quality seems worse than with the ATI DVD-Player, I can atleast watch my movies now. I wonder whats up with that. Somebody at the Rage3d forums has a similar setup to me and having the same problems. Hmm...
Oh well, just thought I'd let you guys know, if anybody else out there is having the problem and doesn't know what to do.
Still ticks me off that I can't enable "DMA" I bet that would help or even fix the problem.

hmm, ok? DMA is now checked. I didn't check it? I swear, computers are stupid!
