I would say that is pretty hot. I like to see my temps in the 30"s under a load. My P3 gets flaky when temp get to around 45c. I think I would make sure the HSF is mounted correctly or look into upgrading it. Also case and ambeint temp have a big effect.

No particular ventilation to speak of

It is seated correctly, but with no fan, well

Gosh Darn Intel CPUS!

I don't know whether this matters to anyone else, but I think it's telling that the questions I always hear are about Intel CPUS. My first Intel machine has always run hotter than any other computer I've ever owned. With standard fans at the right speed, my dual processor machine has been as high as 76 Celsius. It's really kind of ridiculous that to run an Intel processor at the right speed, I have to buy expensive cooling fans to get my computer to run an appropriate temperature. I think it's another thing that Intel really needs to work on. Oh well. The golden orb fans tend to make a big difference, especially with the right thermal paste. Regardless, i wouldn't overclock a celery- they're not too good temperature-wise anyways.
Just a suggestion!
