If so, I'm experiencing problems that I've never had before with my other PC mobos after installing one and could use some advice. I posted one 2 part concern so far in the 'general hardware' forum but no replies/ideas so far
http://www.pcabusers.net/forums/showthr ... #post1347.
As it stands after installing this new mobo with a T-bird 1 gig cpu, 128mb PC133 ram: I have no sound (PCI related probs with SB Live), secondary HD is inop (seems as though it tries to boot Win98 for some odd reason even though Win98 is on my primary HD (now formatted). No games install now either as do SB Live drivers from the CD-rom (either), locks during install but it installed Win98, SE update, '98 plus and other drivers off the same cd-rom drive.
I've installed all the drivers off Abits CD too, following the book so I'm opened to ideas. Anyone running this mobo?

It's highly advised to start with a formatted HD and clean install of the OS. I tryed without doing that at first and it fatal errored big time, had to re-partition and format, re-install everything.
I'm gaining but it's still unstable. Can't install games because it locks up during install yet plays any games already saved in my secondary HD (not formatted).

won't boot from the ide - and i busted my only extra floppy cable in a fit of nearsightedness (these little connectors are a bitch when you can't see very well) at least i'm getting stable posts - i'll dig around tomorrow and scrounge a cable from one of the other machines and see if i can get a boot off a floppy

Try going into the bios and setting the bootup order to floppy, then HDD 0 (instead of 1) or just HDD 0 (then cd rom) if you don't need to boot off the floppy. Also look closely at which plug on the mobo is IDE1 as it's the opposite as what it was on my BH6. Set everything else in the bios at default too if it's not already.
To anyone who's thinking of buying one of these mobos, read the solution to my problem linked above as every detail of Abits manual must be followed or probs will occur.

You did install the latest 4-in-1's didn't you? The Via chipset drivers that come with 98 are crap. The newest 4in1's should always be the first thing you install.

I had a similiar problem with my SBLive!. Install it in the 3rd PCI slot closest to the AGP slot.

lmk, if this helps...

Thanks Scooter but it's been running now for about 2 weeks at 1.2ghz with the 4in1's (4.25) and yes, it's in PCI #3. Now...........my new SCSI Cheetah X15 HDD ("fastest HDD in the world", muhahaha :) )just arrived today so as soon as the adaptor arrives (been shipped) this machine should really rock.
Damn, the HDD was shipped free via Buy.com overnight but I should have requested faster delivery for the adaptor purchased elsewhere. Scheduled delivery Wed 12/13 :( , it's gonna seem like a long wait now.
